SERVICE INFORMATION
My installation rate is only $99.00 PER HARD WIRED CAMERA (basic single story/ drop ceiling/ interior installation.) $149.00 PER CAMERA for more complex installations (multi-level, outdoor, hard ceiling, residential), plus price of equipment. Call around and you’ll see how surprisingly lower my prices are. (Going rate from other contractors is $150.00 – $300.00 per camera installation).
All systems are top of the line, professional installer grade, manufactured by Dahua. Hikvision and Dahua are #1 and #2 in the world, hands down. Each system I install comes with a 5 year equipment warranty and 1 year installation warranty.
Wireless systems are highly discouraged. I will only install them if the client insists, but I cannot warranty them. The technology is not there yet and the wireless cameras WILL give you problems. I have replaced many wireless systems with hard wired systems.
IP systems are the newest technology. An NVR (Network Video Recorder generates the power, and Ethernet/ CAT5e lines are ran from the NVR to each camera. The NVR generates the power for each camera using POE (Power Over Ethernet) technology. 1 single Ethernet line transmits power from the NVR to the camera, and video transmission from the camera back to the NVR. IP cameras are far superior to the older analog/ HD cameras. For $200 to $400 extra per system, depending on how many cameras you require, IP cameras are certainly the way to go.
Analog or HD cameras are older technology. 2 lines are run from the DVR (Digital Video Recorder) to each camera. A 1 pair (red and black) power line to give the camera power, as well as a coaxial cable for video transmission from the camera back to the DVR. The disadvantages of Analog camera to IP cameras are an additional power supply is needed, which means there is an extra component that can fault in the future and cause your system not to work. Also, the picture quality is inferior to IP cameras. HD cameras are like a VCR, and IP cameras are like a Blu-ray.
EQUIPMENT AND PRICING:
There are many different brands out there. Some are high end, and some are low end. Some of the lower end brands are: Lorex, Night Owl, Swann, Wisenet, Q-See, etc. Basically any system you can buy at a national retailer or big box store are okay for weekend warrior installs, but are ultimately not professional grade and will not last 10 to 15 years like professional grade equipment. You’ll get 1 to 3 years of service out of these brands before you begin to see failure.
Wireless cameras from companies like Arlo have all been replaced due to unreliability, constant battery replacement, solar panel not charging camera, or constant video loss. Most wireless systems are replace 1 month to 1 year after initial installation, with hard wired systems. Most of the lower end hard wired systems from Lorex, Night Owl, Swann, etc., are replaced after only a year or so, because of app failure, picture quality, or camera failure.
Therefore, I only deal with professional installer grade equipment. The top 2 brands are Hikvision and Dahua. Other top brands are Axis, Honeywell, Speco, Hanwha (formerly Samsung), Digital Watchdog, Geovision and Flir. Flir has sold to Dahua and Flir is no longer being manufactured.
Of the top 2 brands: Hikvision and Dahua, I install Dahua for 4 reasons.
1) With Dahua, you get the same cutting edge technology as Hikvision, but in a more user friendly form (Hikvision is very complex and often very confusing for users).
2) Hikvision is more expensive than Dahua.
3) Dahua equipment comes with a 5 year warranty -vs- 1 year warranty from Hikvision.
4) I get special wholesale dealer pricing from Dahua. IE: 16 channel NVR with 12 cameras my price = $1,680.00. Lowest price for same equipment on Amazon = $1,900.00.
EQUIPMENT RATES:
• 4 channel Dahua NVR (includes 1TB hard drive) = $320.00
• 8 channel Dahua NVR (includes 2TB hard drive) = $360.00
• 16 channel Dahua NVR (includes 4TB hard drive) = $540.00
• 4 megapixel Dahua IP camera = $115 each. 4MP is the recommended minimum now.
Some additional pricing will include:
• 1,000′ box of premium Honeywell, security grade, rider rated, Cat5e Ethernet cable (best cable on the market) = $125.00
• Plenum rated cable = $250.00 per box
• Camera junction box for outdoor or concrete wall installations = $20.00 each
• RJ-45 connectors = $1.00 each (each camera requires 2. 1 for each end of the cable).
• Monitor/ Television for display = Price varies by size, but all prices will be wholesale.
• Additional 2TB hard drive = $109.00
• Additional 4TB hard drive = $179.00
• Additional 6TB hard drive = $279.00
• There may be other extras involved, depending on your system needs, but these are the most basic system pricing that most systems require.
LABOR RATES:
• Indoor camera installation: $99.00
• Outdoor camera, multi level, or other complicated camera installation: $149.00
• NVR and app set up = $99.00
• Communication line install if NVR is not placed in the same room/ location as Internet modem/ router = $99.00
• Trip/ fuel charge equal to 1 tank of fuel for in town installations or 2 tanks of fuel for out of town installations: $50.00 or $100.00.
• All other services are priced at a $60.00 per hour rate, and include: mounting televisions, installing conduit if necessary to conceal wiring, and other various services as required by the customer.
